Details

When creating the R-Sys, Mavic's goal was to provide gran fondo racers and all cyclists who love the mountains with the best possible wheel choice to achieve their climbing goals. The R-Sys SLR pushes the limits of aluminum-rimmed wheel design with the technological advantages you expect from the legendary wheel-maker to result in the lightest clincher wheel in Mavic's lineup. The exceptionally strong Maxtal alloy is streamlined into lightweight, yet strong rims by the ISM 4D process, which machines away excess material from where it is not needed. Mavic's Tracomp spokes work both in traction and compression, delivering significant advantages over traditional wheel designs that rely entirely on spokes that are strictly in tension. Under heavy loads, instead of losing their tension, Tracomp spokes enter into compression and continue to support the wheel with a high degree of lateral stiffness, all while lowering overall wheel weight and rotating mass, which means stiffer, lighter, more efficient wheels. This ultralight wheel spins effortlessly on QRM SL hubs, housing smooth and durable bearings in a very weight-optimized hub body.

R-Sys SLR wheels come equipped with Mavic’s Yksion Pro tires, featuring front- and rear-specific designs constructed according to the differing demands you place on each. These wheels benefit from an Exalith 2 rim finish, which delivers enhanced braking performance in wet and dry conditions while extending the longevity of the braking surfaces, as well as the appearance of the rim. Experience the flyweight result of more than 100 years of expertise on Mavic’s R-Sys SLR wheels.

Mavic Exalith 2

Exalith 2

High braking performance:

The Mavic exclusive Exalith 2 technology for aluminum rims has been refined to provide a very high level of durability and braking performance in all weather conditions.

Mavic ISM 4D

ISM 4D

Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions:

An exclusive Mavic patented concept, ISM 4D significantly reduces weight and inertia without compromising durability. Quicker accelerations, better handling and more resistance; the right mix to make the most of any ride. The smooth profile also helps reducing aerodynamic drag.

Mavic GripLink Front Tire

GripLink

Grip and control:

A front tire, whether a clincher or a tubular, must enhance the front wheel’s ability to grip the road and control the bike. Therefore, GripLink tires are optimized for front use by offering superior cornering grip and extra puncture protection.

Mavic PowerLink Rear Tire

PowerLink

Low rolling resistance:

A rear tire, whether a clincher or a tubular, must enhance the wheel’s ability to transfer power and generate speed. Therefore, PowerLink tires are optimized for rear wheel use by minimizing rolling resistance.

Mavic Tracomp

Tracomp

Light and stiff in both traction and compression:

Extremely light Tracomp carbon fiber spokes work in traction and compression to provide a very high stiffness level in any circumstances.

Mavic FTS-L Freehub Body

FTS-L

Force Transfer System Light:

Reinforcement of a key transmission component: the contact area between the pawl and the hub body is reinforced by two stainless steel inserts, which allows the use of a 100% aluminum hub body.

Mavic Fore Integrated Aluminum Nipples

Fore

Stiffer and stronger:

Instead of being drilled for spoke nipples, the lower rim bridge is pushed up on the inside and threaded to make it possible to directly screw the nipples into the lower rim bridge, eliminating the need to drill the upper rim bridge. Besides improving the nipple-rim interface, this design is ideally suited to tubeless tire setups and helps maintain rim integrity.

Mavic QRM SL

QRM SL

Qualité de Roulements Mavic Super Light:

The superlight bearings are designed according to Mavic’s strict QRM specifications. The matching axles are machined within extremely narrow tolerances, then assembled and adjusted one-by-one with a very high level of precision.

Mavic Zicral Aluminum Spokes

Zicral

Lightweight, stiff, and strong:

Zicral spokes are made of a specific aluminum alloy to achieve a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio while maintaining high strength.

Mavic Maxtal Alloy

Maxtal

Lightweight and strong:

Exclusive to Mavic, this specific aluminum alloy offers a higher strength-to-weight ratio than conventional 6106 alloy, allowing greater latitude in design while maintaining high strength and durability standards.

Mavic SUP Welded and Machined

SUP

Soudé Usiné Process:

After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish, resulting in a stronger, smoother, more reliable rim joint.
